Meet Betty the Great Dane with a heart as big as she is! Betty came to us from a shelter in Texas and has adapted very well to Michigan, both the weather and her THREE foster (dog) sisters, chickens, and guinea pigs. However, Betty does not like cats. Betty is approximately 10 years old and weighs 90 pounds, so she's on the smaller side for a Great Dane (though she still towers over her Labrador sister!). She's healthy, housebroken, and walks well on a leash (she loves walks but is just as happy hanging out in the backyard). We've yet to hear her bark, but have seen plenty of tail wags! She's also totally fine when left alone. Her foster mom works from home, but when she goes out to the store and gym for a few hours, she never comes home to any trouble! Betty doesn't even try sneak a nap on the furniture! She lets any of the dogs snuggle with her in bed, even our little Chihuahua, but does need to be separated at food time, as she does have a bit of food aggression. We feed the dogs in separate rooms and everyone seems fine! During treat time, everyone lines up for a cookie, and no one fights. Betty just eats her meals more slowly than the other dogs, so it's easier for her to have her space. Betty would be totally fine in a house with other dogs, though she really is more interested in 'her people' and would rather lounge with us on the couch or sleep at the foot of the bed than play with other dogs. She's a senior, so while she does have quite a bit of pep in her step (we were surprised when we saw her age--she certainly acts younger!) she isn't going to be a dog to tumble around with a puppy. Betty really is a sweet, beautiful Great Dane. If you're interested in adopting, please email [email protected] for more information/to get an application! Betty can't wait to meet you!
