About Rat

So. This may be a long shot. But I ended up with an accidental pet rat. Was supposed to be a feeder but snake wasn't having it and I couldnt let it be hurt or starve. So I've got it in a small rodent cage with bedding and food. I'd keep it but I have a minpin that hasnt stopped screaming obscenities since it came into the house. Any idea what I can do? Its not a bad rat or anything. I dont have anyone thats willing to take it. Im kinda at a loss
