This handsome guy is Bixby. Bixby is about to turn 2, we are his 3rd placement. He was owned by a young man who for unknown reasons gave him up to a truck driving family. This is the family that we were in touch with. Bixby is not a truck dog, left to his own devices without proper exercise he foraged a semi truck. He didn't get much in the way of exercise and was overfed. He marked their couch and they decided they had enough. The day I met him he wouldn't even come near me (total hurt feelings) but he was bonded to the man. I brought out some dogs to introduce to him and he hid under the car. Not typical for a heeler. I agreed to keep him, because even though he was timid and afraid he wasn't aggressive. Flash forward 72 hours and he's an entirely different dog. He's smiling, tail wagging, playing fetch, chasing other dogs, sleeping soundly. This boy just needed a chance. We've cut his intake in 1/2 and he's already slimming down. He's a wonderful boy, a gentle soul, he is more a companion animal than a working dog. He loves his people. He is fine with other dogs but seems indifferent to their presence. If you have other dogs, fine, if you don't that's okay too. We are working on his leash walking. He has no food or toy aggression. He will 'talk' to you if you are ignoring him and he feels like you should maybe give him a belly rub. He's gonna make a tremendous companion. He already gets all the compliments with his beautiful markings. If you would like to meet Bixby, please inquire below or check us out on Facebook. Facebook.com/YourLoveUnleashed
