Mason is extremely intelligent and adores all dogs and children. It breaks my heart to re-home him. I am a single mom with 2 kids and do not have time to devote to him. We paid $2k for 'advanced' board and train' but I pulled him out after finding he was being abused. He ended up with basic obedience training (come, sit, stay). Responds better to men and needs further training (walk on leash, going through doors, car rides) and he is head strong. I was short on time before, but my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last summer so I now have even less time. He is so intelligent he can unlock ANY door (he turns deadbolts, round handles, slide bolts, opens the garage door by pushing the button) and in my sub we can only have an invisible fence which fails too often now. He knows immediately if it is out and roams the sub in search of dogs to play with. My fear is he will be hit by a car. He doesn't chase them, but will sit in the middle of the street and expect them to move for him. He was DNA tested as a pup (the kit from Amazon) and is 75% German Shepherd, 25% lab as the breeder said. The father was a pure white Shepherd. I think he really needs a couple or family and he loves other dogs even more so a home with a dog would be ideal. He is protective of his home/yard and leery of any adults that come to the house (he makes us feel safe). He will stand and bark - but is not aggressive at all. My kids can take a bone from his mouth when he is hungry and he simply waits to get it back. He loves kids but will jump on them if they run or play rough. He is very loyal, very smart, healthy and loves to cuddle. He doesn't like to be alone and will not be crated. He chewed threw 4 crates before a vet warned that he would break teeth off (as I said, he is head strong). He needs a family/couple that have time to spend with him and would be best with another dog (male or female). He lets dogs into his home without an issue- even other males. I will truly be grateful if a loving family/couple adopts him. He will make a great companion for a family with the time to spend with him. I still feel the guilt of letting him get abused once so I need to know he is with a loving couple or family hired an adoption service as well because I am concerned with his happiness and safety. He would need to be returned if he doesn't work out (absolutely no shelters) so that I could find him another home.
