Lola 1.5 Years Old Flashy Fawn Cat Friendly Dog Friendly w/Slow Intros Basic Obedience Still Learning Crate Trained Relearning House Manners Fostered in Ilwaco, WA Her name is Lola, she is a showgirl; actually, she could be a clown! She has the most pronounced underbite I've seen and her cute pink tongue tends to stick out when she's at rest. She's very playful, and vocal when she wants attention. I'd rate her as moderately energetic. She loves to run and also loves to nap, preferably on the couch next to you. While her foster brother avoids puddles at all costs, if she can't do a gazelle-type leap over them, she'll just plow right through them. Luckily, she enjoys being toweled off after a romp. When she first arrived, we could count every rib and her backbone was very pronounced. That's certainly changed! She's filling out very nicely since coming to us but still tends to eat her food too fast, so we recommend a slow feeder. It's a good idea to take her out immediately after eating (having been emaciated) she needs to go right way and is relearning that she needs to alert us. She's used to being in the crate during the day and will sometimes whine when first put in there, but then settles down. While she hasn't been left more than five hours during the day, she's crated all night in our bedroom with no issues. However, she would prefer to sleep on the bed. She's also happy sharing a dog bed with a fur brother or even one of the cat siblings. Crating is a good idea when she needs to be alone, because she is still a young pup learning what is her's and what is your's. She loves softer toys she can chew on, but as mentioned she is still learning, which objects are hers. Since we haven't had the opportunity to introduce her to children, we think you should take it slow and remember her high puppy energy and enthusiasm. I have to say she's a pretty smart cookie. When walking, she's learned that when we stop, she's supposed to sit and wait until we walk again. That only took four walks and now we don't even have to tell her. She is very strong and still learning, so you'll want to be alert to distractions that she may want to investigate. She is learning quickly, but needs a family willing to help guide and continue her learning. She may have been clicker trained to a certain extent. If I make a clicking noise with my mouth, she is all attention and she knows 'come' much better than her foster brother does. This little girl will make a wonderful addition to someone's family. Especially if they will continue her work, like cuddles, and just a little bit of mischief-sorta the perfect sugar and spice mixture...
