My love, Ember, is going to be put down or taken to a shelter because she is biting. 90% of the time, she's sweet and lovable. But she is triggered by the door/people entering the home. She is trained and can be calmed down and commanded, but my young daughter cannot remember that our dog has special needs, and keeps opening the door before the dog is controlled or in her kennel. And sometimes my daughter's playmates just open the door themselves. So Ember freaks out at the door and bites the child trying to enter the house. The only alternative is to always have her in the kennel while my daughter is home, with all the doors locked. That's a quality of life issue for the dog then. No rescues here will take a dog with a bite history. In a kid-free, controlled environment, the dog can be calmed using verbal commands and is totally fine. But you have to ALWAYS be ready to handle the door situation. With multiple bites of neighbors' kids, it's not safe for her to live here. I love her so much this is breaking my heart. Posting on here is a last resort before taking her to a vet or shelter (where she will never get adopted).
