About Petree

Petree is a sweet three-year-old Chihuahua Mix who came to Puppy Pals Rescue from a Kentucky shelter along with four other dogs. He arrived in a very underweight condition - his ribs and spine showed and he only weighed five pounds - he did not have any body fat. During his time in his foster home he has started eating a good diet and now weighs six and a half pounds. He continues to eat well and I am guessing a good weight for him would be about eight pounds. This little one has a very loving disposition and is a very happy boy. He enjoys giving people kisses - even strangers - and loves to rest by your side. Petree also enjoys playing with his foster brothers and sister and loves to chase a toy that is thrown to him. He is very active and loves to play. He does well with kids and also dogs. He just stares at cats, but does not try to chase them - although he does try to eat the cat food. He walks well on a leash. When Petree arrived at his foster home he had zero potty manners. By crate training him, Petree is 90% potty trained and is well on his way to 100%. He sleeps in a crate at night and has not soiled his crate. Petree is a handsome fellow and has a short tan coat with a brown stripe down his spine from his neck to the end of his tail. His big brown eyes show his loving nature. Petree has received all his shots, been neutered, heart worm and fecal tested (both results negative), micro chipped, and given his heart worm and flea prevention while at Puppy Pals Rescue. He has been examined by a veterinarian and given a physical and other than being underweight, no problems were found. Because of his small size and active nature, a fenced yard will be required to adopt Petree. I am working with him on his commands and so far he will come when called, walk on a leash, and sit on command (60% of the time). Petree seems to be a quick learner so training classes would be good for him. Petree would do great with a retired person or a family with older children.
