About Woodrow

Adoption Fee: $250.00
German Shepherd
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Woodrow came into the rescue with his buddy Edith. Woodrow is goofy, and a silly boy who sometimes gets so excited he doesn't know what to do with himself! He is sweet, loving, and there is not a mean bone in his body. He is the best dog in the world for people and especially for children. Alone time is not for Woodrow. He wants to be with his people all the time and have them within eyesight and arms reach. His favorite thing is to be where the people are, usually sleeping right beside them. Woodrow is an UBER couch potato, and he could win awards. Woodrow is potty trained, and is wonderful about letting the foster know when he needs to go out. He loves car rides. Woodrow tolerates the crate, but it's not his favorite thing. During his bath, other than the constant talking and voicing his disapproval, Woodrow was the perfect gentleman. He whined the whole time in the tub, but there was no struggling or nipping. Woodrow may not be good with cats. He barks at the barn cat but is not dedicated enough to try and jump the fence or chase him. He is fine with the foster's big mastiffs. However, his prey drive kicks in with the small dogs, and he needs to be reminded that that is NOT okay. The foster's reminders consist of a very stern, 'hey!' which is about the equivalent to ending the world for Woodrow. He is definitely an easy dog to redirect and correct. Woodrow does pull when walking on the leash. He sits when there is a treat but never any other time. Woodrow has noticeable wobbling in his hips. This is not surprising due to his age, 10. He may need medication to keep him comfortable, rather than any type of surgery because of his age. Woodrow is roughly 55 pounds and should weigh around 70 pounds. He is eating 4 cups of kibble a day and given eggs to supplement with fat and protein. Woodrow is also heartworm positive, and currently being treated. The ideal adopter would be someone who could adopt both Edith and Woodrow as their only dogs. Woodrow would love a child to hang with, and to be on the safe side, would probably be best without small dogs.
