Hello everyone please read this post entirely before emailing. This is Ellie heis a 4 month old lab/german shepherd mix pup who has had a very very rough start in life. We pulled her from a high kill shelter when she was just 8 weeks old. Just 2 days after we pulled her from the shelter she broke with Parvovirus we had her treated at a cost of $1,500 and she was hospitalized for 10 days. After picking her up she had to stay on meds for a additional 14 days. Within a week of finishing her medications she was so much better from that and playing and bouncing like a normal happy puppy. One morning she just suddenly could not stand up and every time she tried her back legs would go out on her. We called the vets and took her in and they examined her and said it may be temporary from the lack of nutrition while she was sick after another week it was still happening and we took her back again and was told the same thing. The 3rd trip to the vets they did a xray and said her bones were not developing correctly from when she was sick and that it may be temorary but she is paralyzed. We are now 3 months into it and though she is getting around way better then she initially was she is still partially paralyzed. What this means is Ellie cant run and play like other dogs but she does play with other dogs and kids. She cant walk on a leash like other dogs right now or jump around and such but please understand she is very happy and full of life. Ellie can now stand though a little hunched and she walks very slowly but she walks finally. She is 100% puppy pad trained and will not go potty anywhere other then her puppy pad which has to be in the same general area as her meaning in the same room. She cant go up and down steps on her own but dont mind being picked up. We know the chances of her finding a adoptive home are very slim as nobody will want her because of her issues but we have to try. She has fought so hard through so many battles and obsticles in her way and no matter how bad she felt her tail wags endlessly. She is the most sweetest girl with so much love, courage, dedication and strength that its unbelievable. We will be cautious of where we place her though because of her issues. But should anyone be interested in her please email us.
