Her foster family adores her describing her as 'tender and loving' but she deserves to find a forever home. April is looking for a loving family who wants their dog to be their best friend and constant companion. April would be a great addition to a calmer, more laid-back home and family environment where she can have lots of companionship and love. She literally leans into her loved ones and often rests her chin on an arm or leg waiting for rubs. April sits by her foster mum's feet while she is working on the computer, and she follows them through the house. She responds positively to your encouragement, is happy, loving and adores attention. We're not sure of her age, and like any sweet lady over 4 or 5, she's keeping her true age a secret. With all the pros of a young dog--energy and spring to her step, loves being walked several times a day-she also has the pros of an older dog--wise and calm and intuitive. Simply put, she's the perfect mixture of young and old, and she could be your new companion. April enjoys the comfort and security of a covered crate for napping and sleeping. She enjoys being outside and meeting other dogs and people and loves going for rides in the car. April knows the command 'sit' and she shakes and gives high fives. She loves to be the center of attention and will stick close by. The areas you get to work with her on: some mild refreshing of her obedience and leash skills and a little reminder about inside barking when she notices dogs or horses outside and wants to meet them. When April is left alone, she cries a little, but quickly lays down and rests. April is heartworm positive, but this has not been a negative for the foster family as April is full of energy and all heart. April must have had tough seasons in her past and yet she is loving, gentle, easy to correct, loves people and is great with older children. April is your dog for Spring. She's your friend for more than a season but for a lifetime of companionship. Wouldn't you love to meet a new friend? April is heartworm positive and will be treated by Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue.
