About Cranberry

Adoption Fee: $300
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Cranberry is fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Cranberry is a loving, goofy red heeler of about 1-2 years and 37 lbs. She is a solid, strong girl, and a typical representative of her breed - loyal, affectionate and glued to her humans, pushy, mouthy (though improving), and in it for the long haul. She is rather beautiful if we do say so ourselves. She fears almost nothing and loves to climb, jump and explore. She is rather quiet overall, but will bark a little bit when watching her foster family's chickens in their run. We will not be placing her in a home with kids younger than 12 at this time. She will do best in a home familiar with cattle dogs that sets clear and consistent expectations for her. She does great with strangers and out in public. Her foster dad describes her in two words: 'unconditional love.' Cranberry is very easily corrected and has great recall. She wants to be someone's companion, and definitely needs routine activity like walks and hikes, though we would not necessarily classify her as high energy by young heeler standards. Her drive is there and starting to awaken - she will chase a ball or a disc roller and is a quick learner. She tends to ask for permission when it comes to toys, and is fairly measured in her response to them. She is far more interested in people and chickens at this time. It would be awesome to see her evaluated for herding. She does well with other dogs of both sexes and does enjoy playing with them - think play bowing, chasing and a bit of wrestling. Outside she will sometimes give chase and be a little rough with smaller dogs, which goes with the herding territory, but she lives with a 19 lb dog currently and they are best buddies. Cranberry is housebroken, crate trained and rides fine in a car as long as she is tethered or crated (which dogs always should be, anyway). She needs a home that will continue crating her while unattended and, if she goes to a home with other dogs, during meals. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative as of 3/21!
