About Derby

derby's a handsome 7-year-old with a spunky attitude. he hails from a show quality family of black miniatures, bred by midnight poodles. he's the smartest dog i've ever met and knows quite a lot of commands. (we trained him via the clicker method through sf puppy prep.) derby enjoys his daily strolls, treats and attention. he's mostly friendly to other dogs but can get snarly at other 'alpha' types. derby loves meeting new adults (and even polite children). on walks, he prefers to take it slow and smell every flower along the way. derby relishes his off leash time, especially on the beach. he's tremendously loyal to his main caregiver. unfortunately, derby has become increasingly jealous of our toddler. we've worked with a trainer to no avail and now need to find derby a new, loving home without small children. on the medical front, derby has some tummy issues that come with middle age. our vet found some benign sludge in his gallbladder about a year ago. derby takes ursodiol as a preventative medicine and eats a low fat GI friendly food. we have loved having derby in our life for seven years, and we will do everything we can to make his transition into a new home as happy and easy as possible. derby will bring so much joy to his new family.
