----REDUCED----Sadie was rescued from a farm where she had been tied outside of a barn for 5-6 months because the people stated their teenage daughter was allergic to her....however, they have had Sadie since she was a puppy! When we found her November 20, 2017, she was over-weight and had sores on her paws. The owners did not know these sores existed or how she obtained these sores. When we took Sadie for her first vet visit 11-21-2017, Sadie had a severe yeast infection all over her body and in her ears. It was a very long haul bathing her every day with a special shampoo to make sure she was comfortable, along with antibiotics and steroids and ear medication. On 12-18-2017, during this period of healing, she bit me while I was attempting to put medication on her belly and in her ears. We were not aware she was a biter. It was not severe but because she broke the skin I went to the doctor and it had to be reported to the Dodge County Health Department and the Sheriff had to quarantine her in our house for 10 days even though she had her rabies shots. I now use a muzzle when I need to put medicine in her ears or check her feet, or give her a bath. She has not bitten me again. We do not know if she ever bit her previous owners. Sadie is going on 6 years old July 7th. She is an AKC registered Black Lab with paperwork showing where she was purchased and by whom and her family tree. We have had her spayed and microchipped on 2-26-2018. We have gotten Sadie's weight way down from what it was when we obtained her. She was 97 pounds! She is currently about 81-82 pounds. She is on a grain-free dry dog food and she absolutely loves cut up hard boiled eggs, apples, bananas, carrots, and ribs of romaine lettuce would you believe! Sadie is a very energetic dog; full of love and affection. Sadie is just way too much for us at this stage in our lives. We are in our 70's and have had a feline in our household for 4 years. Sadie does not like it when our cat runs and she tries to chase her and growls at her. We are very afraid that Sadie might severely injure her. We do not know how Sadie would be around children. We have no grandchildren. We feel Sadie needs to be the only pet in the household. She is an inside dog, crate trained, and lets you know when she must go outside. Sadie needs a larger area to run in; we have 5 acres not fenced. Sadie needs room to run, like on a farm; or someone who could teach her to hunt. Sadie is a good pointer so she knows what to do. But Sadie chases animals like mice, chipmunks, birds and coons and she has caught and killed mice and chipmunks! Sadie loves playing fetch the ball and is EXCELLENT at retrieving and returning the ball to your feet. She loves going on walks that involve a mile or two a day. Sadie knows most commands and comes to you most of the time, unless there are animals around to run and catch. Then she is deaf to anyone. Sadie is current on all shots. Sadie just started her Heartworm and Flea and Tick meds on 3-19-2018 and is good for one month at a time. We have all her papers, all her vet checkups and whatever we received in paperwork from the previous owners. We have her crate, bed matt, toys, dry and wet dog food, dishes, muzzle and her ear meds and shampoo for the lucky person(s) who fall in love with her. If you feel you would be interested in checking Sadie out to see if she would be a good 'fit' for you, please email and/or call us at the number given.
