About Amore

This little beauty is Amore, a 5 year old Chihuahua who weighs 5-1/2 pounds. She came to us with a number of other dogs from a hoarding situation She is heartworm negative, housebroken, and microchipped. She is good with other dogs and we would like to see her go to a home with another dog who she can gain confidence from. Amore has not been tested with cats. She would not be suitable in a home with young children. Amore will need a home with a fenced yard as she is skittish due to her past. Her new family will need to be aware of this and give her time to come out of her shell at her own pace. Amore will need patience and understanding until she learns to trust. She gets a little nervous going outside when it's dark. Amore is very sweet and has come a long way since she's been with her foster family, but she is still learning how to be a beloved family member. She's not at a point yet where you can just bend down and pick her up. If you kneel down she will eventually allow you to pick her up. We do not want Amore going to a home that would crate her; it just wouldn't be fair to her. Going into an open crate to sleep or rest, if she chooses to is fine, but closing her in a crate for hours would be a disservice to her. She does love to sit in her foster mom or dad's lap and get attention. She even likes to sleep in bed with them. She hasn't learned how to play with toys yet. With the right family beautiful Amore will continue to gain confidence and learn to trust and love.
