My name is Vickie Benson and we found a German Shepherd last Wed. on March 7 abandoned and was laying in a ditch. We called animal control to pick up the dog but they never showed and we took him in. Max was weak from starvation and he were afraid he would not survive in the cold and with the threat of wildlife. My husband, Kris, and I took him to our vet and he was diagnosed with heartworms, intestinal parasites, malnourished, and he has not been neutered. We have fallen in love with 'Max' and we have paid for all boosters, parasite medication, and we have entertained the thought of keeping him. Max is getting stronger by the day and is very playful with my husband and I and he is very lovable. We have documents showing parasite treatment and all vaccinations are current. He is gaining weight by the day and is needing a bigger space to live. The problem is that we have recently rescued a Chihuahua and today we found out that she has liver problems. We have had to cancel going forward with her heartworm treatment until liver improves. The financial burden is becoming high and we also have a white german shepherd that is two years old. We are having to house MAX in our garage since the dogs are not getting along. My husband and I travel for work and taking on MAX is sadly overwhelming for us. We are asking for help in finding MAX a rescue to take him in for us.
