About Thunder

Let me begin by thanking you for your interest in Thunder. Just a few things to begin so you can decide if you would like to read further. Please keep in mind that we are heartbroken about having to make this decision so if you have any negative comments about our requirements, please keep them to yourself. We are asking a re-homing fee of $800.00 for Thunder, so if you aren't prepared for that she may not be the pet for you. This fee is flexible for the right home. We will require that Thunder's new home have a fenced in yard or be a farm property where it will be appropriate for her to run, run, run. We will require anyone interested to allow us to do a home visit, a reference check with your vet and if you have other pets, there will need to be a meeting of the two. We will not re-home Thunder to a family with children under the age of nine. She is simply to fast and too strong. We understand that some may think our requirements are too much, and if so, we appreciate your opinion. As a former fundraising director for an animal shelter, I am well versed in the necessary steps required to insure that a pet is going to a stable, loving home that will offer her the things she needs. ABOUT THUNDER Thunder was born on November 23, 2016. She is about 70 pounds of pure energy and love. She is AKC and UKC registered, microchipped and spayed. She is current on all of her shots. She is probably one of the strongest and fastest dogs I have ever encountered. She is trained to respond to verbal commands and some hand signals. She if fully potty and crate trained. Thunder loves kids, however, Thunder is FAST and STRONG and because she isn't arounds kids all the time, she doesn't realize that she can hurt them. We have grandkids who love to play with her, but we have to keep a close eye so she doesn't knock them down. This issue will also apply to senior citizens who might not be stable on their feet. Thunder likes to play with other dogs. Again she's had limited exposure to other dogs, however whenever we've had the opportunity to have her with other dogs, she loves to play. Her initial reaction to another dog is to pretty much lose her mind, she gets so excited she can barely contain herself. Thunder has never had any exposure to cats and judging by her reaction to squirrels and birds, I personally would not be comfortable introducing her to a cat. WHY WE MUST REHOME THUNDER Due to serious medical issues, we are unable to provide Thunder with the loving home we had anticipated giving her when we first fell in love with her. It is for this reason and this reason only that we are seeking to find a loving family that can offer her everything she needs and deserves that we cannot give her.
