About Grace

Grace is 6 years young and one of the sweetest and most gentle ES you will ever meet. She was left at a shelter in S Texas and we do not know anything about her background. She is housetrained, fine with dogs that don't get in her face and ok with cats. She talks to her foster Mom telling her how grateful she is for her new life, especially at meal prep time. This petite little girl is an absolute love and a princess in the making! She's great in the crate but quickly earned full run of the house and doesn't really need to be crated. She was spayed and had a dental when she was rescued and at first seemed extremely calm for a field Setter. She is still a calm girl, but her energy/activity level and interest in things around her is picking up as she settles into her foster home. She loves exploring the yard and pointing the deer, she could sit at the fence and stare for as long as you let her. We would prefer she have a home with an interesting fenced yard because she likes to wander around the yard so much. But she would love a person that is home a lot and would take her on multiple walks a day, so that is an option also. She is not a candidate for an invisible fence. We think she would prefer a calmer, quieter home as she is a bit timid so we are not recommending her for a home with small children. She does not show signs of separation anxiety and would probably be ok as an only dog as long as her person is retired or stay/work at home. We took time to slowly acclimate her to the resident dogs as she does not like unfamiliar dogs in her face and she will give a 'back off buddy' correction. She may have lived with a number of dogs and had to fend for herself. After a week all is well and she is fully integrated with the resident dogs. She is slightly interested in cats, especially if they run but is not showing any interest in getting physical or hurting a cat. There is a bully cat that corrects dogs and she walks a wide path around her and won't even give her eye contact. Grace loves people and is very affectionate. She gives her foster Mom gentle kisses and loves receiving kisses on the top of her head and face. Grace is about 35 lbs. She is in a foster home near Austin. Her foster Mom does not think she is a candidate for flying commercially, she is a sensitive girl. She is spayed, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. This happy, sweet, loveable girl is ready for her forever home.
