This big beautiful girl is Ava! She is an 8 month old Cane Corso, already weighing in at over 80 pounds, and has quite a bit of growing to do still! We will require any visits or interested adopters to have previous Cane Corso experience and be knowledgeable about her breed! We want to set her up to succeed and she is at a great age to give her that opportunity! Ava is a complete sweetheart and definitely does not realize that she isn't a 5-pound lap dog! She thinks that sitting on you is where she is supposed to be! Her personality is so happy and so playful. She'll start doing play-bows as soon as she sees a new human friend! Given her size and strength, Ava will need a home without any small children. It would be best if they were teenagers and older. If there was another large breed male dog in her home, that may be awesome for her! She could definitely use the socialization that another older dog could help with. Ava thinks that smaller dogs and cats are toys, so please no animals smaller than she is in her new home. Ava is still learning the basics of being house-trained. She knows how to sit and loves to work hard for those yummy treats. Her new owner will need to be diligent about teaching her nice and polite behaviors as well as keeping her socialized. Ava does have panosteitis, or growing pains. It is very common in this breed. We are managing it with medication and will continue to keep a very close eye on her! If you experienced with this breed and are looking to make a difference in a pup's life, come on over to the shelter and meet Ava!
