[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Meet Ellie! Ellie was on the euthanasia list at the pinal county animal control. She had spent Christmas & New Years there & we just couldn't let her die there! We rushed to get her. Much to our surprise she was a good 20 lbs overweight at 72 lbs. She was bleeding from her bum & VERY smelly. Upon a good clean up at our vet & a groom we got her looking pretty :) Still fat... but pretty & cute :) Sadly, we found a tumor in Ellie's rectum. During the biopsy our vet decided to remove the whole thing. He did an amazing job but when we sent out the tumor we found that the mass was in fact a high grade mast tumor :( She did visit with an oncologist who sadly told us the tumor will likely come back. It could be in a year from now or it could be in a few months. Chemotherapy is not an option as this is not typically something that is curable. If the tumor comes back there is a med we can try but it is very expensive & it still might not do much for her. For now-- it is a waiting game for Miss Ellie. We LOVE her to death & she is SO happy! She has no idea of her prognosis & certainly doesn't show that there is anything wrong with her. She loves to snuggle the other dogs & even started playing tug-o-war with toys with them :) she loves to get on the couch & snuggle. She hates walks LOL but we are making her go on short walks several times a day to keep her body moving & hopefully lose a lb or 2 :) Ellie is currently around 8 years old & one day her illness may start to show & tough decisions will need to be made. This could be the near or far future. We just don't know. We are a foster based rescue so it is hard for our fosters currently to take on a dog as a hospice. So essentially that is what we are looking for for her. Someone who understands & knows her fate but is willing to love her for as long as she has left. Our rescue will be here to assist you till the end. If you'd be wiling to open your heart & home to this special lady please let us know. There is no adoption fee but homecheck & follow up communication with us of course required.
