Zeus was born New Years Eve 2016 He is 14mo old. I took him in as a favor to a friend who had a litter. I thought big dogs would need as much as my little dogs....we have a yard I was sure that was enough. Opps. Zeus is Neutered and UTD on all immunizations. He is house broken and uses the dog door. Comes with a dog crate which he is in 5 days a week for 4hrs while nobody is home. He is on a free feed system and eats good quality dry dog food. He shares our home with 3 kids (aged 13, 10 & 3) 1 cat and 3 small senior dogs. He has had no training and needs some. He is rough with our cat....who tries to give it right back but has had his leg hurt by him trampling over him. I am not sure I can recommend a home with small kids for the same reason but he is bonded to my 10yr old son so with training may be ok. I have a few issues with him. He has not been around other dogs other than my 3 small ones. He also does not get along with my 11yr old chug. I will admit he may start it with Zeus but they have been in 2 very bad fights and Zeus doesn't even get a scratch but my other dog has ended up at the vet. I think a HUGE part of this is he gets no outlet for his energy and no training. With someone who can walk him & devote to him he will be fine. He has a good heart but my son can't walk him he's too strong and none of us have time to train him. We are just too busy and it's not fair for him to settle. I put unknown on temperaments because he has never had an issue with my 3lb dog or my alpha female 10lb dog but my 15lb chug and him have issues. So I want to say it depends on the dog. Kids same thing...older ones will be fine or even toddlers if he is calmer and exercised more. He wouldn't jump and be crazy. Our home has way too much going on for him to be #1 like he deserves. He has anxiety when he's alone and cannot be by my son's side. I hate to split them apart but even my son is wanting more for him and is scared of if and when the next dog fight will happen between our old dog and him (we have kept them apart but since my son was home alone when it happened he has developed a fear of what can happen) I cannot stomach the thought of taking him to a shelter. Sitting alone in a kennel for days or weeks would crush his spirit. He sleeps under the covers with my son every night for the past year. I'm hoping to find someone who is looking for a loyal dog who is active and has time to spend with him. This situation is now urgent. Our new landlord is not able to get insurance while dog is here. Hope to hear from someone soon otherwise he has to go to a shelter.
