Who doesn't love an itty-bitty-pitty mix? Meet Zelda Pitzgerald! This slightly shy but friendly girl is about two years old and a very manageable 35 pounds! Check out her gravity defying ears! The NC shelter reports that she has a friendly and open personality and did well when introduced to both cats and dogs. She is quickly gaining confidence in her new foster home and is very eager to please. Want a running partner? She would be great at that too! She has been friendly and playful with the household dogs and respectful of the resident cats. She is quickly becoming used to her crate and has had no accidents in it. Zelda is a very pretty little girl, who loves affection, but will also settle down with a toy or bone to occupy herself. She will make a lovely companion for some lucky adopter! This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH's heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
