My name is Red but my close dog friends call me 'Big Red' I have had it rough for the last month or so. I was abandoned by my owners when they moved out of our house. I don't know why they wouldn't take me with as I have always been there for them. Our neighbor noticed I had been alone for a week and reported it to the ACO that helped me. I was not given the best care so my coat is a little dry and dull but I promise you with a bath and good food I will shine like a diamond.I hurt my left front leg and a nice doctor determined it was the result of an old injury, that was most likely not taken care of appropriately but it doesn't stop me from walking around, playing, and using it to bury hidden treasure. I like to play with some toys, especially the fluffy plush ones. I enjoy a healthy game of tug-o-war in which I like to lay on my back while I tug on my end. I know it's weird and I am supposed to stand up but I prefer my back sometimes. Just a mental note.... I also enjoy good ole fashion butt rubs. I have no problems with meeting dogs and if they bark at me I just back away, but as usual slow introductions are always best. I have also lived with cats and kids. Our neighbor told the people that rescued me that I was 'a great dog'. I would do well in just about any home, but a home with minimal stairs may be best. I would probably be fine with an appropriate canine buddy that wouldn't require rigorous play, so that my leg could stay pain free. I am truly a gentle giant and deserve a life far better than the one I left behind. Will you please be my new family?
