About Penny

Penny is a 7/8 month old border collie mix. She's about 45 lbs and has some pretty big paws, so she still has some growing to do. She might even be mixed with who knows? ST Bernard? We do not know. Her best placement would be in a home with another dog with room outside to run. Penny is a very good natured, affectionate, adorably goofy dog who wants nothing more than to spend time with her people, whatever they are doing. Inside she enjoys playing with her toys, other dogs, and being a lapdog. Outside, she loves to run and explore, especially with other dogs. She is already pretty good on a harness and would make a great walking/hiking buddy, but is not the endurance hound you would take running or biking. Penny loves car rides and meeting new people, and would be a great traveling companion. Like most border collies she is smart, independent, and a little stubborn, and needs a confident pack leader to help her learn. Unlike most border collies she does not want to herd livestock. She will want to herd your cat, but is trainable on proper cat etiquette. She should do well with kids that have been taught how to interact with dogs and respect their boundaries. Penny would do well with a doggie door, and likely would do great with other dogs She is in foster in the NW, she was originally saved by TTRT Rescue in TX.
