About Isabella

This pretty little girl is Isabella (aka Izzy), a 5 year old MinPin/Chihuahua mix who weighs 8 pounds. She came into our rescue because her owner passed away. Her daughter took her in but was not able to keep her. Isabella is heartworm negative, housebroken and microchipped. She is good with other dogs, and shows no interest in cats. She has a very sweet temperament and is good with children. When she first went to her foster family, she used pee pads until she felt safe enough to go outside. This took about 4 days. Since then, she goes outside all the time. Expect this to occur in a new home so her new family must be aware of this. Izzy is still skittish and timid. She has a high energy level and enjoys playing outside once she is comfortable in her surroundings. We feel that she would need a doggie sibling since she enjoys playing so much, as well as a fenced yard. Izzy has come a long way since she first came to us, and is learning to trust and feel more comfortable. We are sure losing her mom has her confused so her new family will need to be patient with her and allow her to come out of her shell at her own pace; not rush her. They need to giver her the time she needs to acclimate to a new home and family. Izzy is not at a place yet where she will allow you to snuggle with her. Her foster family is working with her every day and are seeing changes in her that show she is trusting them and letting her guard down. It took 3 nights before she would sit near them. She sleeps in her own bed next to theirs at night. Based on the positive changes that she has shown already, we believe that with a patient and loving family, she will continue to blossom and get closer to her people. When her foster mom comes back home from running errands, Izzy throws back her little head and howls like a wolf because she is so happy and excited to see her. Izzy needs a family that will understand all of this and continue to work with her and be patient and allow her to come to them at her pace.
