Siberian Husky

This is one of the hardest things we've had to do... we rescued this beautiful girl when she was 5yrs old (from a rescue in Florida) about 3 years ago. The shelter told us that she had food aggression and was a little skittish; therefore probably wouldn't do well in a family with young children or small dogs. We didn't have either and our hearts told us that we were the perfect fit for her. We quickly learned that she also LOVES to be walked and would need a fenced yard because she couldn't help her curiosity to wander. She's also a typical husky so her stubborn nature made it quite a challenge to retrieve her once she 'broke free'. She is one of the most calm and quiet dogs we've ever had; she doesn't even bark. She loves to be pet and shows her love by leaning her body against you and practically lays right on top your feet. She stays directly under our recliners when we're watching TV and curls into a ball beside our bed at night. She doesn't get on the furniture and won't jump onto a bed unless invited. It took over a year before she would even try it. She's not a fan of loud noises so during the Florida thunderstorms, we would occasionally call her up to snuggle with us. Even then, she would stay for a bit and then go find the smallest space to bury herself into (usually under a nightstand or a tiny space between our couch and the wall). It always amazed us how she could even fit. About 6 months ago, my husband and I moved from FL to South Carolina. Just before moving, I broke a bone in my ankle and have spent the entire 6months in a boot, a leg cast and then another boot and will soon be having a surgery on my ankle (another 6 month set-back). My husband is often traveling for work so I am left to care for her on my own. Our yard is not conducive for a fence and our sweet girl must be let-out or walked 2-3 times a day. We are no longer the perfect family for her... not even close. We are searching for the right family to continue loving and caring for her. She has a lot of life left and we want her to spend her years in a quiet home with a big, fenced-in yard, with someone who loves to take walks and has the ability to care for her the way she needs and deserves. She's up-to-date with all vaccinations (as of 2wks ago) and we have all of her records to share with you, of course
