About Dookie

This dog is a hard one for us to post. His name is Dookie - he probably has some Chihuahua in him. He is about 2 1/2 years ago. He came to us a very shy and not a very healthy dog. He spent time out in a foster home and we got him healthy and coming out of his shell. Well we really SCREWED up. We adopted him to someone who it is readily apparent abused him - probably kicked him from how he is reacting to things. Yes before anyone asks we have put these individuals on a DO NOT ADOPT OR FOSTER list that is used by a lot of rescues here in Iowa. When he came back in we sent him out to the same foster and this is what she has to say about him today: Dookie is doing better.. he growls at my dogs but is only warning them. he likes his cage cause he feels safe in it. Otherwise he likes my bed.. At first it was hard to pick him up. We figured out why.. He has been kicked and kicked hard.. he wouldn't let me rub his belly or side. HIs ribs must be bruised.. he is allowing ME to rub it now but still not comfrontable with Bob. He still loves to walk (prance) and tells you when he has to go potty.. he is still panicky if you walk near him. He still needs someone who can pay attention to him .. give him walks.. no other dogs. So far good with cats but he has not had a cat in his face like the puppy has done. The main thing is someone who likes to snuggle with him. We are totally sick over this and the person who had him is never welcome here again. They should NEVER own an animal. A very special home for a very special dog is what is needed.
