About Mollie

Mollie is an athletic and sweet natured seven year old Llewellin Setter. She is a field dog who loves her home and people, and while some might say 'that dog don't hunt' she's still a happy, joyful outdoor girl who's hoping to bound into a family and pack that finds the same joys in life that she does. Mollie is house trained and crate trained. She knows the basic commands -- SIT and KENNEL are her favorites -- and is a sweet loving dog with people. She is quick to learn, and happy to take a treat as reward for her eager attention. Mollie loves walks on a leash, and as boundless as she can be off-leash, she's a calm walker at your command. She gets along fine with other dogs but she's all about family and she loves contact, petting and hugs with her people. She is confident going out in public places and as a 'people dog' she is fine with new people and greets them warmly. Mollie will follow birds and outdoor creatures, but that attention doesn't make them her prey. Cats are interesting -- probably a little too interesting for the latent hunter that lives in Mollie, and she's probably best in a home without cats. In other activities you'll find Mollie a quick study who loves to put in backyard laps and is a bit of a goofball. Mollie is very affectionate and loves her contact with people. She's good for hours of play and exercise outdoors, but she relaxes for cuddling and close contact when she comes inside. She enjoys family time, and she's fine with crate-time at night or if everyone is heading out. Furniture privileges are a joy to her, and she is happy around the house. But she loves her play time and she'll do best in a home with another dog or dogs to make up her pack, and with older kids and active adults who are ready to share this active girl's life. Mollie is smart and she adapts to new dogs and people quickly. For all of her interest in the outdoors and its creatures, she's not a hunter and isn't a good match if you need a hunting dog. Mollie has wonderful energy and is a leaper who will find anything less than a 6-foot fence just a trifle to be hurdled. She'll do best with a home where she and other dogs enjoy a big fenced yard and wide enclosed spaces to play in. Mollie is capable and ready to settle down in a family and home who will play with her, engage with her and balance good indoor time with the joys of walks and lopes in the great outdoors. Mollie is in a foster home in Edmond, OK. She is healthy, neutered, micro-chipped, and current on vaccines.
