Scout is a tall and lanky, playful, strong and energetic, one-year-old, 60-pound, tan and white Collie/Boxer/Shepherd-mix with gorgeous warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian. This boy looks right into your eyes and heart. He came from a home where he lived with another dog, a cat and a four-year-old boy. The family was in turmoil and had to let go of their latest canine acquisition. He wasn't very well-treated, so he needs some training to boost his confidence. He's a quick learner and enjoys playing with other dogs at doggie daycare to get his energy out. Scout is housebroken, and working on his crate-training. He is typically well-behaved in the home if he gets enough exercise, and loves to cuddle up in a soft bed and chew his bones. Scout didn't have a lot of exposure to the outside world as he rarely went on walks in his old home. So seeing squirrels, bunnies, and other dogs on his walks excite him, and strangers can sometimes make him nervous. He lived in a home with a lot of loud voices and abuse, so a raised voice or a raised hand make him nervous. He's a loving and sensitive guy. Scout is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, fecal-tested, de-wormed, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. He is being fostered in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact [email protected] for an adoption application. His adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits. A few sessions of professional training will be included with his adoption to get him off on the right start in his new home.
