About Zack

We dare you to find a cooler mix of dog breeds than Zack, our resident German Shepherd/Pug mix! Zack is the exact mix of these two types of dogs, from his curly pug tail to his GSD face. He has the loyalty and sensitivity of a shepherd paired with the goofiness of a pug! Zack came to ACL from an animal control facility where his senior owner had to surrender him because she was moving into assisted living. Watching Zack say goodbye to his mom broke our hearts, and we promised him we'd help him heal in a new family. Zack is 7 years old. He's housebroken and well-mannered - he lived in the same home since he was a puppy, and he's a great pet! Zack is a perfect medium-sized dog at 30 pounds. He spent this holidays in a foster home, and his foster mom reported that he was pretty dang close to the perfect pooch! He's well-behaved, affectionate, and people-oriented - he's happiest when he can be with you! Like many dogs that have been abandoned later in life, Zack has some trouble being left alone, so his adoptive home needs to be patient with him while he learns that his new family is his forever family! Zack does ok with other dogs, but we can't say how'd he feel about cats. He greatly prefers women and kids over 12. His best home fit would be with a female-led household who has some patience while he adapts to his new home.
