About Rodger Bear

Hi there - I am Rodger Bear and am currently in foster care. I am a special needs pup, due to my blindness - but I get around pretty well after I have enough time to get used to my surroundings - I even can get up and down the porch steps (all 5 of them!). I had a couple accidents my first 2 days, but once I learned the routine of the house - I have had no more accidents and know how to use a doggie door. Some dogs do not like me, because I cannot read their body language and have no concept of personal space. I do well around kids (I would probably due better with older kids - I accidentally scratch younger ones when I stand up) as well as I am good with cats. I travel okay in a car (no car sickness, but I do like to wander around and need a harness strap to keep me seated). I am okay on a leash also, I tend to follow where the leash leads, until I am tired then I just plop down. I really enjoy being petted and will sit nicely for that. Sometimes I get lost in my surroundings and will wander around in circles barking for your help and might need you to guide me to a familiar area, but other than that I fairly quiet (unless crated - sometimes I think people forget I am crated and will need to remind me to let me out). I had heartworm (pretty bad case), but I have gone through my treatment and am now on the mend. If you are interested in meeting me, contact the shelter and we can arrange to have a meet and greet.
