Sir Winston of the Poolwater, First of His Name, King of the Zoomies and Jumpies, Eater of Treats, Lover of All. Pictures, videos, and Winston's full story available on my GDrive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By5X7aZESncJazRCMk8tNDB5dEE Winston is what an AmStaff was bred to be. This character has such a pure heart, is intelligent and expressive, loves to be around his people and furfriends, lives to play and snuggle, and always wants to please. When I found him back in August, starving and injured, he had no social skills, was not used to being indoors, and was a bottomless well of energy. Over the past 5 months Winston has matured, grown, calmed, and learned so much about manners and inside living. He's on track to be as close to perfect as a dog gets. He is out of the endless puppy energy stage but still needs to burn energy each day. A quick zoomie session fetching in the yard in the morning with a longer one at night gets us through the workweek; a doggy play date on the weekend burns off the excess. He enjoys time as a potato dog now too, napping in a sun puddle or cuddling up for some loves; his favorite position is behind you as lumbar support. Winston still has too much happy to contain when he sees his favorite people but it's manageable, and after a few hops, he will keep 4 paws on the ground. He's roommates with an older Golden and 4 cats that he keeps trying to entice to play but they don't want any part of it. He's been socialized with as many dogs as I can get him around; solo and in groups, big and small, old and young, and he just loves them all. A few of the older dogs have corrected him when he was too excited and he responds well to it, going submissive and calming down enough for them to back off. Winston adjusts his level of play when he's with his 5 pound Chiweenie friend. He's had limited interaction with kids but the times he has been around them, he has visibly adjusted to be gentler around them. This dog LOVES water! Baths, showers, sprinklers, rain, pool, it doesn't matter. At my friend's house, he will dive into the pool to get his toy and throw it in himself if someone doesn't throw it in for him. Winston will enter via the steps when he gets hot and float around before coming back out to play some more. This pup is agile and loves to run, jump, bounce, and hop. He's just so full of life when he does this, you can't help but laugh at his antics. He lives for a ride in the truck and likes napping in it too. He is housebroken and knows how to use a dog door. I don't have one here so he goes the distance during the day, 10-11 hours sometimes. The back bedroom and litter boxes within, cat food dishes, trash cans, my bed, and closet are all off limits and very accessible; he does well respecting the boundaries. This pup does still like a good chew session. It was almost a compulsion when I first found him, but it's down to normal dog level now. This is where he has really amazed me; the house is loaded with temptations and I can count what I've lost to him on one hand, most over the first months. Winston's very perceptive, a serious 'NO!!' is usually all it takes to put something on his do not touch list. There has never been any food aggression from him and treats are his true love. I knew going into this that I don't have the correct house or lifestyle for a terrier but the pound was not an option to me and rescues were/are full as usual. Pitties, to me, call for an extra level of responsibility and care because of their reputation and strength. I chose his name because I saw his potential for being a diplomat of the breed. I've kept him for this long before putting him up for adoption to teach him manners, evaluate his temperament, and to get him to the point where he had a better chance at a successful adoption. I do love this pup but I have 5 furkids, live single, work long hours, and have sacrificed any kind of life over the past months to get him on the right track. I hoped that someone close would take him but everyone I know is maxed out as well. Winston has adapted pretty well to life here but he really needs to be someone's number 1 or 2 instead of number 6, needs to have the good behaviors he's learned already reinforced, needs to continue his training, and most of all, he really needs someone to play with. My Golden is too old for his shenanigans, the cats really want no part of playing with him no matter which toy he brings them, and I simply don't have the time or energy to give him and the others all that they deserve. Winston is neutered, chipped, licensed, and vaccinated. He's just over a year old, 21' at the shoulder, a solid 65 pounds, and is a gorgeous dog. I'm asking $150 for the adoption fee. Winston will come with his collar, chest harness, some food, and a box of his beloved toys. Please, contact me with any questions.
