We are unsure of what her situation was before she came to us but it seems that she had a hard time and was probably hit at some point as she is skittish and defensive if approached in an angry manner. Saleen has been with our family for 7 months. ) ) Personality: ) ) Saleen loves everyone! She is surprisingly strong for her size and hasn't learned the art of being gentle so its hard for her to play with young children, but she does love them. She greats you with not only a wagging tail but her whole body wags, we call it the whole butt wag, it's so adorable. She is very active and energetic and loves a good walk or playing fetch to get some energy out so she can settle down for bedtime. She heals well while walking but needs a gentle leader so she doesn't pull or chase small animals like rabbits. Walks are one of her favorite things to do as well as Frisbee. She also loves water outdoors and has an amazing time with sprinklers or hoses. She digs a bit if not entertained while outside for longer periods of time. ) ) She loves to give kisses and is affectionate when she settles down for the night. She is always right next to me when we go to sleep and is eager to stay connected with her head resting on me. She has been to puppy obedience school and is very good at sit, stay, leave it, heal, down, shake, and off. She is crate trained and loves to have her own bedroom. She is also trained with an invisible fence as she is able to jump or climb a fence under 6 feet. She is amazingly agile and she leaps like a gazelle. It is really cute but this makes getting things on the counters or tables pretty easy for her. As long as there isn't something too enticing too close to the edge she leaves it alone. She loves to chew so we keep a constant supply of bones and entertaining toys for her, although soft toys don't have a chance. She does like socks, but thankfully she never eats them and she will bring them back and leave them when asked to. She loves treats and carrots but her favorite is apple slices. ) ) Saleen does not like other dogs and is fairly well behaved while out running errands or walking as long as another dog does not approach her. A good privacy fence is needed so she is not taunted by other dogs, and small animals all the time. She is on guard, does not behave well, and can be aggressive with dogs in neighboring yards when she can see them and they come close to the fence line. She is great protector and will alert you to any people or animals that are on your property. She is also a bit of a hunter and will kill small animals like birds and snakes if they are in the yard. ) ) I have no doubt that Saleen will be a loyal and great companion with the right family and situatio DATE DOG IS COMING TO 1st EVENT (All dogs are available for online adoption now. In-person adoptions will begin on the date of a dog's first event provided they are still available. Dogs not adopted during their first event will attend additional events thereafter until adopted): Wednesday, April 5th Our adoption events are at the Lakewood PetCo, 475 S Wadsworth Blvd on Wednesday 4pm-7pm, Friday 4pm-7pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm An adoption application online is required prior to viewing our dogs. You should complete it before you get to the event or you will have to wait in line to use the computer there. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance. We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. Adopter has to sign up for the insurance if they are interested or it will not go into effect. Adopter can go to our vet for medical issues that may arise in 1st 7 days of adoption.
