William is amazing and hails from Turks & Caicos. He is 3.5 years old, 62 pounds, neutered and is so incredibly sweet, just very submissive. Some quick points on William: -He walks very nicely on a leash -House broken -Crate trained and does not make a peep in his crate -Great with cats (completely ignores them) -Good with dogs -Good in the car -Loves to snuggle William is a mellow gentleman but has a goofy, spunky side once he gets to know you and is such a fun dog! He likes to prance around off-leash in his foster's fenced in backyard and will come over when called. He has done really well around his two foster cat siblings, one of which is a flighty cat, but he has shown no interest in them other than a quick sniff in the air toward them and then turning around to leave. He is still learning how to accept love, you can tell he really wants to be a part of everything, he just needs a little patience and reassurance once he finds his forever home to let him that he deserves the love! He settled in really well in his foster home after a week of giving him space to observe and adjust. His true fun-loving spunky personality has surfaced with a bit of patience. He is so happy to see his foster parents whenever they walk into a room he does a full body wiggle! William will need a patient adopter who is willing to give him the time and space to adjust once in his new home. He would do really well with a second dog in the home to help show him that new people are fun and to help boost his confidence! Give this slightly clumsy, loving boy a shot and he will win your heart over. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks' recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH's heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Through the generosity of these two organizations, we were able to bring in these dogs and ensure they have a bright future! Old Towne Pet Resort in Springfield created a seamless transition for these pups from the shelter to their resort where the dogs are being cared for, evaluated, nurtured and prepared for their forever homes. The SAVEDOG Project provided transportation from the pups from the Turks & Caicos islands. TCSPCA provided care and vetting for every dog prior to the dogs' arrival. OPH truly believes that 'It Takes a Village' to make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs. Through this Operation Hurricane initiative, we have seen the best of our partners and could not be more proud to partner with them!
