My name is Rose. I'm a 54 pound, 16 month old Black Mouth Cur. Many people in Iowa are not familiar with my breed because most of us are farther south. I'm most like a German Shepherd in appearance and play style, I'm just smaller. I have big beautiful ears, a nice smile, and love to give kisses. I like to play with other dogs my size but am perfectly ok on my own too. I do not want to live with a cat, in my opinion they are moving squeaky toys and I get in trouble when I chase them. I don't like to get into trouble and I'm a people pleaser. I'm a very quick learner. My foster mom says I need a fenced yard to run and play safely. My favorite thing is cuddling on the couch and having my tummy rubbed. I ended up in Iowa with 29 other dogs after Hurricane Harvey. I actually prefer your chilly Iowa weather over the heat in the south. I have a beautiful coat to keep me warm. I had been at a shelter since I was 4 months old. I spent 14 months locked in a tiny cell! I am overjoyed to live in a home and have people who love me and pet me. I'm crate and housetrained. I do have some hip dysplasia and because of that will be on an anti-inflammatory my whole life. I don't mind them, they taste good. The vet says I was badly bred, whatever that means. Two different vets looked at me and took x-rays to make sure I was ok. I'm up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested.
