DELIGHTFUL DELILAH. This 3- to 4-year-old boxer mix had a rough start to life and has a few scars to prove it. But she has blossomed here at Save the Strays, exhibiting that wonderful combination of clown and faithful companion that so typifies the boxer breed. Delilah loves nothing better than being by your side. Like most boxers, she gets bored and lonely if left alone for too long and will do her best to get to wherever you are (including climbing a 4-foot fence). She definitely needs to be a house dog! Fortunately, she seems to be house trained and hasn't shown any destructive tendencies indoors. Delilah had a thorough vet exam at intake and got a good health report, but did test positive for heartworms. Because she had no clinical signs, she has been given the 'slow kill' treatment, which is less risky than immiticide injections and doesn't require strict crate confinement. She has completed her 30 days of doxycycline and now needs only monthly doses of heartworm prevention, like any other dog. If you're looking for a wonderful dog that really knows how to give and receive love, consider applying for Delilah online at www.savethestrays.org or email [email protected] for our application. Her adoption fee is $225.
