About Doreen

People call me Doreen. I weigh around thirty pounds, just turned a year old, and know lots of tricks like 'come,' 'sit,' 'down,' 'stay,' and 'shake.' (We're working on 'play dead' and 'no bark,' and I'm a pretty quick learner.) I love to snuggle with my people. Australian Shepherds Furever helped to rescue me as a small puppy from a hoarding outfit and placed me in a loving home in Dallas. I hung onto a few quirks from my childhood; I still eat my meals too quickly and sneak into other's beds--whether another dog or my family's. Crate training and my special cloverleaf bowl have helped me work through a lot of those issues. I also appear to be part Jack Russell Terrier. I love my people but can be quite territorial and feisty around strangers as is typical for a Jack Russell Terriers. My current owners have reached out to a trainer, so I can work on mellowing out and thrive in my new home. Although I'm easy going most of the time, I am best suited for a family who can handle my at times challenging temperament. On three occasions when I was overly excited, I bit folks who I incorrectly perceived as a threat. I didn't mean to do so, but my Jack Russell instincts sometimes kick in. My family has a senior, male border collie with whom I'm smitten. Unfortunately I'm not a good fit for small children or homes with cats, and my current family has both. I'm as sweet as I am good looking and would be the perfect addition to a family who can offer me plenty of stimulation and structure.
