This is the first step of the adoption process and required. Meet Delores Marie or Lola for short. Lola is an adorable larger-sized chihuahua who is approaching her third birthday. This adorable girl is not the type of dog that can go into any home. Her needs are specific, but we are willing to search high and low to find her what she needs. Lola is a truly wonderful, loyal companion when she chooses you. If she doesn't like you or trust you, you are fighting an uphill battle in changing her mind. We know that people are going to stop right there and not want to meet her. That's fine; we understand. However, we would appreciate it if you could continue reading and at least share her post--that's the only way we are going to find that special home for her. Lola is very smart and has been trained extensively through clicker training and knows a host of commands and tricks. She responds very well to positive reinforcement as she is very treat and toy motivated. With that being said, she is still a bit of a resource guarder around people not included in her inner circle. Lola, despite having been raised around kids, cannot co-exist in a home with kids. Their unpredictable nature and sudden noises make her very nervous. She is also iffy around other dogs. With slow, methodical introductions Lola has learned to tolerate some other dogs but it isn't always easy to make that happen. Lola does ignore mature cats. She likes kittens too, but she plays too rough with the when she gets too excited. Lola loves to go for car rides and rides well in the car. She is also an expert fetcher. She will fetch tennis balls all day if you let her. When Lola isn't going for walks or playing in the house, she is ready to be the best cuddle buddy she can be. Lola is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is housebroken as long as you are watching her walk to the door--she won't bark to let you know she has to go.
