About Crispy

Adoption Fee: $75
Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Crispy (about 2-4 years old as of July, 2017) was found as a friendly stray near the Waukegan Popeye's Chicken restaurant living out of their dumpster before moving on to handouts from a nearby caretaker who quickly got him trapped and neutered. They didn't realize he was friendly until after his surgery, hence his little eartip that would have marked him as fixed if he were to go back outside, but in the recovery room he immediately started charming the surgical staff so he went home straight into foster care. He loves people, he will meow to them and wind around legs to get attention. He loves to be pet and scratched but Crispy is a very playful boy and he will take too much stimulation as an invitation to wrestle. His foster family are working on teaching him to be more gentle, but he may not be the perfect kitty for a family with very small children who won't know any better than to provoke him or with people with bleeding or immune disorders. He still thinks being held is weird after fending for himself on the streets and simply won't tolerate being cradled like a baby, but he loves to smash against people and cuddle on his own terms. He adores playing with other cats and would do best with a young playful kitty companion who won't mind wrestling with him every day. He has already been returned from one potential home where his intended playmate couldn't handle his type of rough a tumble so another really playful confident kitty or kitten is a must. We're not sure yet how he will handle being around dogs but with a cat-friendly dog that would be okay if Crispy wanted to wrestle with them, too, he could give it a try! At Petco Vernon Hills, where his video is taken, he has adopted a 5 mo old male kitten. The play and sleep together. Smidge thinks Uncle Crispy is the coolest. They would have fun staying together.
