Delilah is a Bull Terrier, between 2-3 years old. She is dog selective, but at her foster home she ignores cats and birds in yard. She needs to be an only dog. She absolutely loves people of all ages and is great even with the 8 year old granddaughter who visits her foster home but she should not go to a home with small children.. She's always happy, tail constantly moving, and enjoys being the center of activity. Her new owner should have experience with this breed and also be an experienced dog handler. This young girl likes to play ball, dress up or just likes to run in yard and roll in grass. She needs a home where she'll be an indoor dog, but requires her own secure yard for her potty breaks and play-time. Since she is dog-selective, she is not a candidate for trips to the dog park so please if interested, have a home with a nice yard for her with grass to play in. (this means no apartment, no condo or similar). Delilah also loves belly rubs and this also helps to calm her when she gets overly excited. She really wouldn't object to infinite belly rubs Bath time is easy because Delilah loves water. She also rides well in the car and will remain seated with the occasional reminder. When it's time to go outside, she'll follow you out the door and not go in front of you. She is also kennel trained and understands commands 'No, Stay, Lay, Sit, Out, Kennel, Run, Bad Dog, Good Girl,' but does not always listen since she is a typical young bull terrier and is highly excitable especially with new people or a new environment. As a bull terrier she needs someone or family that knows how to control her with firm commands and praise, and someone willing to continue with her training. She is quiet and gentle with her foster at home, but exuberant with new people and other dogs or in public. She knows not to jump up, but she also has been rewarded with pets and hugs by others in the past for this so it has been hard to change behavior and still needs some work in that area so her new owner will need to continue to teach her not to jump up on people. She is not a watch dog because while she will bark if someone comes to the door, she really is excited to see everyone. Delilah will remind you to give her fresh water and will talk to you if you speak to her. She is a quick learner. At her foster home, she's not allowed in bedroom because of allergies and will sit at the doorway without reminders and not enter room. Most of the time she sits by foster mom or on her feet. If she's told to not enter a room where the foster is, she will eventually start to whine because she wants to be close to her people. Prefers wet food and soft treats and we include a small amount of dry kibble mixed in canned food. Delilah is a pleasure most days to have around. She greets you when you return as if you had been gone for days. Delilah is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoption fee is $280.00. If you'd like to meet her, please email [email protected] to request an application.
