About Arvo

Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Arvo is fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families. Arvo is an Australian cattle dog mix of 30 lbs and just over a year old. This boy came to us from Hillsborough Animal Control in Tampa having broken front legs after being hit by a car last July. He has now gone through two surgeries and has very few limitations - he just needs to be watched for limping after vigorous play. However, he needs a stable home with a strong cattle dog resumee and the understanding that he is not a typical family pet. He is very manageable in the right hands and setting. Arvo gets overstimulated around lots of other dogs and does not react well. He would do best as an only dog or with 1-2 other dogs, preferably females. He is not possessive of food or treats, but does have some barrier reactivity in the crate. Small dogs and other small animals would not work for his home. Arvo has his Canine Good Citizen title and enjoys playing ball and Frisbee. He has excellent recall and is not apt to jump a fence. He is completely housebroken. His current foster has had him for a while and is very good at managing him. She is willing to work with a foster or adopter on transitioning him to a new home. Arvo is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative.
