About Kasey

Gorgeous Kasey didn't have a storybook life in the past. Used as a breeding dog and kept in a garage for most of her 6 years, Kasey was headed to a high-kill shelter when the breeders were done with her. A kind elderly woman kept her from going to the shelter, and this is where Kasey's life started to get better because it allowed New Rattitude to rescue her from almost certain doom. Now for the first time in her life, little 11-lb. Kasey is learning what it's like to be loved. Not surprisingly, given her background, Kasey is somewhat apprehensive around new people. When there are unfamiliar visitors in her foster home, she may seek out a quiet spot to avoid any discomfort. It even has taken her time to learn to trust her foster family, so you can imagine the joy her foster mom experienced the day she felt a tiny lick on the back of her leg as she was doing dishes. Right then she knew that Kasey was going to be OK. Today Kasey relishes getting belly rubs and shows her delight when greeting her foster family by wagging her tail like crazy and spinning round and round. And while she'll still need some time and patience from her adopters, Kasey will warm up, and once she gets to know you, you'll have a friend for life. She's even good with kids who are old enough to know how to interact with small dogs, but because of her initial wariness, she would not be a good fit for a family with very young or boisterous children. Kasey gets along with other dogs, both large and small, and is excellent with cats and even chickens! She loves playing in the yard with her canine foster siblings and napping with them on her huge dog bed. A very intelligent girl, Kasey has learned the command 'sit' and is working on 'stay.' She's also crate trained and working on house-training. Despite Kasey's rough start, she has a loving personality. Take one look at that sweet face, and you'll want to be the one who helps write the next chapter in her life story.
