Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender, Owner can't care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 57 lbs Height: Estimated 10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be ideal until leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Hank needs a kind, low-key and patient home that does not mind working with him. What is my personality like? Update 7/6/2017: Hank's story is more like a song. His past is rocky which is why he is so unsure of new people, but boy does this dog have potential. Hank has been with us for 6 months and it's so hard to believe that the terrified dog hiding in the back of his pen is now this bright vibrant lap dog. We have put real dedication in this guy and it surely shows. This insecure, troubled soul has turn into a glorified toy hoarder and a huge baby that loves to give kisses. All he really wants is just to be a families dog.. Not a yard ornament, not something to look at when you are bored.. but a real part of your family. Mind you, Hank is still apprehensive of new people, but he has shown us if you are willing to try with him.. he will most definitely try with you. Winning him over just takes a little time and his favorite snack of course.. cheese puffs! He still needs leash work, we think it would be successful with time and a front walking harness. 3/8/2017 Hank came to the rescue from a very under-socialized environment. He is still trying to figure out what being someone's pet really is. Hank still needs work, but he is the more social out of his siblings. He hates leashes and does not understand why he has to have one on in order to walk outside.. He kind of just sits down and does not move but he has gotten better since he has been here. Hank is learning how to sit, and loves meaty treats! He does not care about cats. Once he is used to you he does give affection and loves giving little kisses. How I act when I first meet new people: Weary of new people, it takes a little time but then he is basically a lap dog. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 10/1/2014 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
