About Maybeline

Hi, I am Maybeline! And I was definitely born with a sweet, tender, sensitive soul and the looks of a supermodel! I am a five-month-old mixed-breed puppy (my momma looked like a lab/shepherd mix) who is looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation. I currently weigh in at 23 pounds, though I still have some growing to do. And my gorgeous chocolate and licorice-colored brindle pattern isn't a fancy make-up job: I am naturally this beautiful! Best of all: my loving personality outshines even my stunning good looks! I came to Chicagoland and Fetching Tails Foundation with my littermates from the Tunica Humane Society in Mississippi. Our momma Maria is a well-known stray dog who my friends at the THS have been trying to save from the streets for a couple years. She just won't let the lovely ladies catch her, but always lets her human angels know when she has had a litter and led them to my siblings and me. When my foster momma saw our pictures, she jumped at the chance to help us find forever homes so we made the big journey north when we were old enough! I have really blossomed since joining my foster family; I am more shy than my siblings, but am coming out of my shell a lot thanks to love of my foster parents and the other doggies in their home. My littermates have outgoing personalities, and encourage me to enjoy the world with them. I would love to have a friendly, outgoing dog in my forever home who will continue to nurture me and help me find my confidence. I just relax and am happier when I have a canine companion to follow. I also really love to play with my doggie BFFs; nothing makes me happier than playing chase in the yard with my littermates or the older resident dogs in my foster home, so I would also love to have a fenced yard at my forever home when I can romp and zoom around to my heart's content! I can be a little shy when meeting new people, so I think a calm home with older kids if you have children would be a better fit for me. It takes me a little bit to loosen up when I meet new people, but once I know you are loving and kind, I am the most affectionate little lady who loves to dole out sweet kisses while I receive tender pets! I have pretty wonderful house manners for a young pup, and am learning more all the time! I am working on mastering potty training; I just need consistent reminders and positive reinforcement to get me all the way to 100 percent, and should be there in no time once I learn the routine and schedule of my forever home. I am also crate trained, and do well in my little doggie den while my foster mommy goes to work or runs errands for 3-4 hours at a time. Fetching Tails Foundation requires adopters of young puppies to sign us up for training so we can learn how to be the best version of ourselves, and I think training classes will really help me continue to gain confidence while I learn all the fun tricks and commands I see my older doggie friends doing. More than anything, I just want a loving, patient family who will love me completely and show me that the world we build together is happy and safe.
