About Betty

Betty (previously named Lady April) is a dear, sweet little dog who just wants to be loved by her person. She loves to snuggle and love on her human and play with her toys. Once she warms up to people when they are introduced properly, she accepts them. She will play sometimes, but she is so focused on her owner, that nothing else exists. She is quite fearful of men, so any male in the home will have to go super slow with her and allow her time (she will bark and maybe growl a little) to get to know them and trust. She may still not fully trust a man after many months even, so potential adopters should be aware of this. Betty tries to be possessive of her owner and will bark at anyone that comes near so they know that. A slight 'oopsie' correction usually will stop her barking. Her personality has come out in a short amount of time. She doesn't mind the crate but does like to sleep in the big bed with her person. She weighs 10#, is approx 3 y/o, and loves to cuddle. She can really wag that tail when she's happy! She is reliably house trained and lets you know when she has to go potty. She is very quiet aside from the occasional grunt/growl at unusual things but that should cease as she becomes more familiar and confident. She likes other dogs and enjoys running and playing with them, just not sharing her person with them. She has a slight luxating patella which doesn't seem to bother her because she LOVES going for walkies. Her new owner must commit to walking Betty a couple times per day. We require an application, home and reference check and a met and greet with current pets and/or children in the home. Betty is being fostered in Littleton, CO.
