About Luke

Date into Rescue: 3/11/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, could not care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Needs socialized. Weight: 8.4 lbs Height: Estimated 9-10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be greatly appreciated. Luke is fearful and not leash trained yet. What kind of home would be best for me? Luke needs a home with a family that can understand his situation and his need for learning to trust. No other male dogs is best. What is my personality like? Luke came to the farm with a few others from the same hoarding situation. Although Luke has made improvements, he is still fearful of people. He has his favorites here at the farm that he will let love on him, but if you are not one of those people.. he hides in the corner. Luke would be a great lap dog if someone is willing to put in work and a lot of patience. Notes from caregiver 4/26/2017- 'I like this little guy. He growls when he's eating and will go in his crate without any force but he growls and turns round and round when he is in it. I have been holding him since his second week here and he's great unless Gus and Jaq are out with him. I normally keep them separated. If they are in the big area together they are fine but small spaces is a no. He doesn't mind girls but I would be very careful about putting him with boy dogs. He isn't good on a leash he wants to pull you but off leash he stays right there with you. He comes to his name almost every time you call him. I let him in the area outside of Greta's and he didn't wonder too far from me. Almost as if he was scared to go further then the leash even when off leash. When I called him he would run to me and jump up on my leg. He gives great kisses too. He loves to be right with you and have his head and back scratched. He is dying for some one on one attention and shows his appreciation with a sweetness in his eyes and a kiss on your cheek. He doesn't always have a clean crate so I wouldn't say he is crate trained. I think he would be best being the only dog. He was fine with my child he ignored her.' How I act when I first meet new people: Fearful House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
