About Jax

Australian Cattle Dog / American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Young, adorable relationship-building dog in foster care really needs his forever home!! Jax, a 2.5 year-old, lean 30 lb. Cattle Dog/Am. Staff. mix, has been in foster for nearly 2 years now, most of his life. He is inherently fearful and needs to build trust through patience with a dog-savvy adopter, but he's so sweet, loving, and loyal, and builds such a strong bond once he does, it's worth every minute. He's very easily managed without any medications or special equipment. He's super intelligent, housetrained, knows how to use a doggie door, and knows lots of commands. He's also vaccinated, micropchipped, and neutered. Now all he needs is to find his forever home. He has lived with two medium/large dogs and can potentially live with other appropriate, tolerant medium dogs if introduced properly. He plays very well with my medium dog. He does not get along with small dogs. He has also lived with cats and is fine with mellow ones. He will bark at them if they move erratically or show fear. He has also lived with foster kittens and has done well. He has been around older, dog-savvy kids but would not be ideal for a first-time dog owner. He is partially muzzle-trained for occasions when a situation could be too stressful for him (vet visits, exposure to unfamiliar people in new environments, etc.) He loves to go for long walks and hikes, fetch tennis balls, chew on bones and toys, and work for treats. He can also entertain himself well and does not appear to have any separation anxiety or similar issues. He just needs a place to call his own, where he feels safe and comfortable. His rescue organization is Love That Dog Hollywood, but he has been in my home as a foster. I'd be happy to share additional details or answer any questions about this wonderful little guy!
