About Rocko

Rocko is an adorable 5-year old Chihuahua/MinPin mix. This little guy takes a long time to warm up to new people and places, but don't let that fool you: once he has bonded with a person he greets them enthusiastically with kisses in the morning, and more kisses when they get home after work! Rocko was rescued from a local shelter when his people who had him for most of his first 4 1/2 years decided they could no longer care for him. This experience was very traumatic for this sensitive boy and the shelter asked Wonder Pets to step in and work with him in a home setting. Of course, we said yes! Rocko has come a long way in his foster home, but will need a person who is committed to helping him continue overcoming his fears and phobias. His ideal human would be one that is calm, cool, and collected, while still willing to get silly and play around with a teddy bear or squeaky ball. Rocko could benefit from some obedience classes to help with his confidence and help him bond with his new family; don't stop there, though! Rocko's foster family reports that he has an amazing nose, and perhaps he would excel at nose work, as well! Rocko loves a nice walk in the sunshine, too (dark and rainy times are scary for him). Rocko will chase most cats and all smaller animals (he just can't help it, they run so fast); he is picky about his canine companions, as well. Long slow introductions with any resident animals are a must. Even though Rocko loves children, he does become stressed by the unpredictable moods and movements of smaller family members, so he would not be a good fit for a home with small children (visiting respectful children should be fine). Along with other trust issues, Rocko has difficulties trusting people enough to tell them when he has to go out to potty. His foster family will be very happy to share the routine that keeps him accident free. He is crate-trained, and is fine in his crate during the day while his family is at work. Another bonus is he rarely barks, even when his very barky foster siblings go crazy. Rocko will sleep quietly in a crate all night next to his person's bed; however, his very favorite place is under the covers, snuggled up with his favorite person! Rocko is neutered, microchipped (free registration), wormed, and current on routine, bordatella, and rabies vaccinations. He weighs about 15 lbs. His adoption donation is $200.
