About Annabelle

Adoption Fee: $200.00
Dachshund
Age: Senior

Hey there! My name is Annabelle. I am a spunky, older lady. I am about 12 years old and I weigh 14 pounds but I have plenty of energy and spunk left! I mean, heck, I was found and taken in by a vet's office because I was out playing in traffic even though my back legs didn't work! It's all good now though. They took me into the office and I hadn't been hit by a car or anything. Even without full leg function I was too spry for that! I just had a little bout of IVDD like a lot of my Dachshund friends. With some time and care I was back up and running in no time. You might still notice a little hitch in my step, but I get around just fine. I do need to live somewhere I don't have to deal with stairs though. I should never jump on or off of furniture either. That would really help me a lot! It would be better if I wasn't in a home with small children either. Oh, I also don't have any teeth. Jealous? Doesn't slow my eating down any, I promise you that! My foster family wets my kibble to make it easier for me to eat. Man do I have them trained'| Teeth or no teeth one of my favorite things to do is chew on this deer antler at my foster family's house. Feels great! I don't mind if you humans take my antler (or my food) but I do NOT like my foster brothers and sisters to try it. IT'S MINE! I don't care if I have teeth or not my little rambunctious foster brother'| I shall challenge you to a duel! Of course, this means I do fine with other dogs, but I do have to be watched if there's food or treats or a dog bed I really like laying around. I will claim them and I'll let all the other dogs know! I do GRRRR sometimes at my foster kitty sibling but she walks off and ignores silly me. Yeah I can be a little dominant, especially with other dominant ladies, but I do like the boys, unless they're trying to take my food. Just sayin' that's off limits fellas. I would like home where there are boy doggies or a girl who isn't bossy like I am. I am getting better at letting my foster family know when I need to go outside. Like all dachshunds I need to be confident in my home to have good potty habits. All us rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so please be understanding and patient with me? I am great in my crate. I love my crate! Again, I have this family so wrapped around my finger. I have my own orthopaedic bed in my crate, with some blankets. It's no wonder I don't want anyone else to go in there! I do like sleeping in the big bed of course, but I do just fine in my own space as long as I know where my family is! I am quite happy that way. I love to just hang out on my dog bed under a blanket while you watch TV. Well, unless you're having pizza. If I smell pizza it's like I can't help myself. I'm going to ask you for some of it. I am going to bounce around, whine, scratch at your leg, and generally do what it takes to get some of the yummy stuff! Anyway, I'm happy to hang out with my foster family for a while. They're pretty cool, but I would love a place of my own. Interested in hooking an old lady up? I promise I'm entertaining! Love Annabelle Annabelle absolutely a sweetheart. She loves people and she's a little clown. She shows off when new people come over. Loves to roll on her back on the carpet while grunting at everyone. This wonderful girl is just waiting for a chance for a forever home in her foster home in North Carolina. Is she the one for you ?
