About Balto

Siberian Husky / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Balto is an almost 2-year-old husky/lab mix. He is a large boy, weighing in at between 75 and 80 pounds. He was adopted as a puppy and due to personal circumstances of the adopter had to be returned. Balto still has the energy of a young lab and would be excellent for an active adopter. He has jumped a short chain link fence to visit the neighbor's dogs but would most likely be fine in a standard height chain link fence and most certainly in a privacy fence. He is regularly in the front yard with his Foster Mom off-leash and is not a runner. He can exhibit some husky stubbornness, but overall looks to please his human. He is starting to learn some basic obedience commands and is doing well. Small kids and dogs may be intimidated by his size but he currently lives with dogs of all sizes and while he may need a slow introduction, he is usually fine with any dog he has been introduced to after a day or so. He is very leery of children his size or smaller so we are requiring that he goes to a home with no children under the age of 10. Balto is crate trained but spent a lot of time outdoors so will have an accident if he is crated for too long. This should improve as he adjusts to a schedule. He is a sweet, loving boy who is ready to have the stability of a committed owner for his true potential to emerge.
