About Max

Hey guys and gals, I'm Max! I'm so happy to be here! I am about 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier and I absolutely love people. I am currently in a wonderful foster home with my foster mom and dad and other dogs. I've also been around children and was very well mannered. I am great on leash and good around other dogs, especially with the ladies. I have had great success with my house training and in a routing with crate training and I only use the 'potty' outside. I am NOT good with chickens and I will hurt them, so please, no chickens! I do fine when the dogs and I are playing outside or in the house, but I do have some barrier issues, so I don't like when there is a gate, fence or crate between me and another dog. It makes me very upset. However, it is certainly something I can be trained on and work through. Good news! - Whoever adopts me into their family will receive a training session with Nikki Ivey/Dog Speak included with my adoption! Unfortunately, my previous 'owners' kept me in an outside kennel, which is the reason for my barrier issues. Also, as time went on, I started to get so bored and just wanted to be with people, so I escaped my kennel at my old home and killed a neighbor's chicken. My people were so upset that they were planning on shooting me that afternoon. They didn't understand that all I wanted was some attention and love and to not be kept in solitary all day and that many dogs, if given the change, will kill a chicken. I really didn't realize that I did anything wrong, I swear! It was a miracle when a RARE foster agreed to take me in because I had torn my cruciate ligament. Thankfully, now I am able to have surgery to repair it and be able to play again without any pain. I don't have to wait to be adopted, I just need a family to let me rest and recoup for a few weeks before I start to play again.
